  • Tit Shoe and Turkey

    Happy Thanksgiving, Xanga-land!

Partner and I spent the day wandering the city; it was a gorgeous Indian Summer today. Hand-in-hand, we moseyed around Central Park, caught bits of the parade, people watched, sipped cappucinos, and saw the funniest window display ever. Check it out. I’ve taken to calling it Tit Shoe.

More photos of this glorious Thanksgiving day can be found at my other blog, Naptime in the City That Never Sleeps. I know it seems strange that I keep multiple blogs, but they have their purpose.

The Loch Ness Blog was to document our European adventures last year – it was a scrapbook of sorts. Also, it was pretty tidy and censored compared to my Xanga rants, allowing me to invite readers who I might otherwise never invite to keep in touch with me via blog. Naptime in the City That Never Sleeps is built for a similar purpose.

I don’t see myself updating the Naptime very often, perhaps a monthly photo journal or essay, but it is a fun sometimes diversion. Take a peek and see my take on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade; I’d like to think I’m a better commentator than those plastic talking heads on tv. Funnier, anyway.

Anyhow, after our long walk about town, we came home to fix some turkey cutlets, pomegranate dressing, cornbread stuffing, and chestnut/sage brussle sprouts. DELICIOUS!

Tomorrow I’m doing my last stint as an office temp before I start a full time job at a publisher of performing arts magazines on Monday. And this Thanksgiving, I am so very, very thankful for that.

  • I just bookmarked Naptime. I’ll be reading it this evening. It’s a cool idea to keep records of these experiences as you have them. For memories, they are far more telling and full of detail than a home movie.Oh my, the shoe. It’s got to be a challenge to come up with intriguing  window dressing. Oh Rhoda, where have you gone? Good lord that may be before your time. Sounds like a great day. My favorite part of the day was seeing my nieces and nephew. They are so funny. I love the way they clarify things. My mother asked my nephew if he liked the green bean casserole she’d made and he was scratching his head on the back of his chair and it looked like he was indicating that he did not like it. So he clarified for everyone, “I know it looks like I am saying no because of how my head is moving but I am scratching it. But I still say no. I don’t like it. It’s yucky.”Maybe you had to be there.

  • Since we don’t do a family thing until Sunday, I guess my favorite part was sleeping in.Many congrats on the new gig! Must have added a nice side dish of hope to Thanksgiving!

  • oo cool performing arts mags which?

  • My favorite part of Thanksgiving, honestly, was when we packed up the car and headed home.
Sounding a little less grinch-like, my second favorite part was a spur of the moment trip to Philly for a taste testing of cheesesteaks.

  • I know it’s totally trite, but I’m most thankful for my family.  It’s been a tough year for us, but we’ve emerged better and stronger for it.
