  • God Loves Figs

    Today I ate in heaven.

    In heaven, plump olives glisten in gorgeous bowls. Rosemary and goat cheese tarts nestle neatly between billowing, beautiful croissants. Plates are pilled high with bunches of spinach, drizzled with balsamic, brightened with sun dried tomatoes, finessed with pignoli. The air smells of figs and coffee and warm, loving, whole meal bread.

    Is this heaven? Oh wait. No. It’s Kember and Jones on Byers Road. But I certainly wouldn’t mind spending an eternity there.

    Shaun and I savored some fluffy coffee drinks, scones and the most delicious apple/blackberry pie I’ve ever eaten there as a reward for tying up some boring bank chores. It’s only been a few hours since we went, and already I want to go back. YUM.

    Have you eaten anywhere delicious recently?

    ::Random Tangent::
    As mentioned in the insane edit to my last post, I got my dream job! So no more bitching out of me, I swear. (I apologize: I think this blog was getting gloomy.) Read all about it, as well as this past weekend spent with fellow Xanga author, Jenn, on The Loch Ness Blog. Seriously. My good post for the week is there. Go read it. You’ll laugh.

  • Okay, I’ll go there. Congrats on the dream job.Lynn

  • Hooray for the dream job!  Hooray for figs!

  • Sounds like semi-vegetarian heaven. Mine would also have a tender cheeseburger, Swedish meatballs and chicken divan that divinely melts in my mouth. Diff’rent strokes, diff’rent folks.I know I’ve been really busy, but I didn’t realize I missed the insane edit. (So much so that you used the term markering.) Big-time congratulations!

  • I will check out Loch Ness. The food. So yummy sounding! I have not eaten anywhere good lately except in my kitchen. I will remedy that soon I hope.And I am very happy for you about the dream job! Oh buddy that is going to be fun.

  • Happy New Job! Lisa

  • You got your dream job!!!??!?!?!? that is wonderful!!!!!! I missed the edit, I’ll have to go back and read. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Now, if only I could find my dream job….

  • that would be a really good commercialbut not until the line “is this heaven?”but I guess it’s too genuine sounding to be a commercial so it must be a review! ;) so how are you liking zadie?the book will kind of surprise you in a really good way at the end. at least I thought so, maybe that was forster’s ending tooI kind of want to read his book. Oh also I love how she mentions her husband in the intro. it’s so cute. first he’s just in a list and then he’s “time is how you spend your love”also, what did you think of zadie. I read the first 1.5 or two stories I think, but since then I’ve lost the book. I had to read pride and prejudice for school so ali was tossed aside and now i can’t find her!okay i’m going to go finish pride and prejudice. later gator.

  • Awesomeness!!!  I had sooo much fun this past weekend!  so have you made shaun try one of the surprisingly delicious yet equally frightening deep fried mars bars?

  • My mother was in town last week, so I took her to an Italian place called Bice — apparently part of a chain, but oh so yummie.
